End of this week wrap up.

So what was this week like? A bit much like the past few weeks, money money  money pouring like a river over the falls. One the cars needs some major rear axle work due to one the brake seals being worn and saturating the back driver’s brake pads (That’s going to be $ just due to the labor on disassembling the rear axle to do get the repair done.

There is also an oil leak somewhere on the front and the filter needs to be changed out, and the gas pedal sticks when you lean on it from time to time. I’d assume to sell it but the skeptic needs find out how much out of pocket it would take to get it repaired since it was supposed to go to our Eldest daughter for her 1st vehicle, and if it would cost the same as a used car or slightly less?  I might bite the bullet and get it repaired. Other choice is sell it back to them (My mother in law bought it from them a number of years back) and squirrel away the money towards a better vehicle.

Wife’s mother’s day present hasn’t shown up yet, there is less than 72 hours left and it still isn’t here. I’m hopeful though I won’t give up hope. I’m going to finish off a few things around the house for mother’s day as well and getting the office a bit more squared away than it is currently. Plus have to get two more rooms moved between now and the end of the month, and maybe repaint a bathroom or two. (Pending on paint left over.)

Podcast side, not much to say save that I did get 3 of 4 encoded and uploaded to the podcast’s YT channel. Compiled an mp3/Video from our interview with LB Bryant and Amanda Rush, from http://ani.me, after listening to the podcast Max did a cool job of it and I love getting the new info from LB and Amanda for the upcoming summer season. Google Hangout was a mess Thursday night it seems, it took us 4x tries and even then after the 4th when it said it was finally recording and we had 2 of the 3 members from Triple Slash Studios from The U of U Gaming Education Dept. and discussed their release afterwards THE DAMN THING DIDN’T RECORD ANY OF IT! FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU! Over an hour of their time and ours WASTED because Google Hangout had some type of glitch on the server back end. We’ll just attempt to rerecord this coming week,

Our Eldest Daughter is going under the knife as well. A Bunion has surfaced on her left foot and is 15 rather than the norm 7 as far as length goes on bunions so we’re going to readjust our family vacation this year since she’ll have to wear a boot for at least a two month period for recovery time.

My mother has found the internet and discovered eBay so she’s becoming quite fluent in the ways of the business end of that company with how she can stop an nifty item or two at an auction and know roughly how much of a turn around It can return profit wise. She’s also delved deeply into the genealogy field as well, tracking down our connections the Cromwell’s and Hinton’s of The British Isles, as well as scanning in some of the family photos this week too. (Thanks mom, I mean it.) That brought a few tears to my eyes because I thought I lost some of them and I couldn’t recall them without thinking and concentrating too much.

Also, to some of you out there that I have lost touch with due to one thing or another?  I’m sorry, and this by no means is a crutch to lean on at all. My add/adhd seemed to have got loose, I have been lashing out a few people I lost a friend in my anger and I want to say to her I’m sorry. I should have tried to have been more patient and even understanding, I however don’t like having things kept from me either.  But I should have also been wary of you felt about your situation at the time as well. To the others, yup I can be a truly bonfied asshole, but I wasn’t the only one at fault, but I do accept my role in what transpired in our interactions. Please know I’m sorry, and that I hope you’ll move on without thinking of me too badly or with much disdain.  It’s Friday, and I need to finish my workload, so that’s it for now. I might post up after we do the next Podcast recording. OH and to Brent Lengel, HAPPY BIRTHDAY again you 30 Year old Sod! Love ya (In that comrade manly way of ways) stay strong always!

A Technological leap happened less than 24 Hrs Ago

Well, where I am nothing but rusty with my whole Japanese, I can however say that this is some of the most exciting news yet. Less than 24 hrs. ago it was announced the 1st fully operational Mech was avlib for purchase. Bad news it’s 1.3 Million US. $ . Most MechWarriors will be screaming over this true, but I am more into it for the sheer fact it’s a Mech, that I TOLD those I used to RPG with in fact to point when we watched Madox-01 Metal Skin Panic for the first time and at the end they had that documentary on the military weaponry that was used as research for the slave troopers. Well guess who has the last laugh on this one? I DO!

Think of this as the edge of finally applying that which most of us thought was fantasy and being able to produce an actual functional mecha with dual Gatling mini guns (Using plastic BBs) and a 4 chambered Water powered missile launcher. Now as I hear the laughing, (I know it did sound funny at first for me as well.) but think about it. They have a Gundam at Diver Tokyo Mall automated and everything from Gundam Unicorn, but what if that could be re-worked and brought into a practical stance?

Kuratas Prototype Demo 1

Kuratas Prototype Demo 2

I know it’s a long way off taking in consideration of balancers and gyro stabilizers, but we’re nearly there with this The Kuratas Prototype. Runs on gas, (diesel fuel) it’s semi modular, it has a functional Cockpit face tracking tech based O/S, it works with 3G WI-Fi. There are some drawbacks, the tracking is a bit slow, and the mech travels at 10K an hour. But think of technological boundaries Japan just leaped across. Suidobashijuko really outdid their selves with this one. I am still astounded at the work that was placed into this project and that it was kept under wraps till now, just wow. I also liked the Press release they had and the way they presented it at WonderCon this year. I’m now leaving it up to you to comment on your feedback on this great announcement.!

Augmented Reality, meets VR Idol Miku Hatsune

Well, this is an odd way to expanded on the Virtual/Augmented Reality technology. A young man from a Technical University in Japan on YouTube has posted a video showing him actually on a date with Miku Hatsune (Popular VR Singing Artist and VR Gamer (See Garry’s mod)) using a mixture of technology specifically in regards to integrating as Xtion PRO motion sensor to a pair of Visual VR goggles, which  allowed him document He and Miku in several places in what appears to be tokyo.

During the Documented video we see this young man interacting with Miku in the “real world” and up till near the end, it was an interesting and still is yet at the end, there was and I know it may have been for fanservice humor, but still the skirt flipping could have been avoided.

I understand that it was demonstrative purposes, but the young man should have also clearly stated that the video was for demonstrative purposes as other sites have had comments reflecting humorous comments rather than ones with more seriousness inquiry as to HOW the technology works and how the young man had constructed the pair of interactive “Augmented Reality” spectacles and the programming thereof.

To read more on this you can read one the articles involved on this directly at hackaday’s website. I find the technology ultimately a step further towards holographic technology and interactive gameplay and military appilicaltion as well as medical there also leads to questions of a morale nature as well. Please feel free to comment your ideas and opinions as well.

Thanks everyone hope your day is well.

Reveiw: UDK Programming with UnrealScript a Beginners Guide to Unreal Enlightenment.

First off, let me say what a great privilege this is to have been able to do a read through and apply the lessons that are in the chapters and the explanations and how they work.  I thought at 1st this was going to be a tedious tasking, being someone who dislikes having to use mathematics in programming. Being someone with a slight learning curve, Ms. Cordone AKA AngleMapper to the unreal community brings programming with UDK fun for the new user.

I was asked to review a particular chapter of the book, and sadly I cannot. Why? Because the whole book itself is a great read and learning tool to those that are starting out and have questions on how the inner working of UDK work and are applied within each other. The hands on examples are great as you can apply them to your own alpha as you’re building your game and its environment. About ¼ the way thru the book I got to the awesome actor section and was always curious on how the actor/model stood on the floor without going halfway through it which was always something I beat my head against.

But after reading through that particular section I was able to understand and wrap my head around it. I finally knew the values and how the rotation worked without the headache I would end up giving myself in the end in frustration. All in all for Ms. Cordone’s Guide to UDK I for one am giving this book a 9.5 out of 10 for aiming towards the little guy and addressing issues some of us out here with learning curve issues and helping us grasp and understand the concepts and learning from them at that angle. I thank Rachel and Shaveer for this great opportunity it is a pleasure finally to grasp things that seemed more complicated than they actually are. You can order this informative and enjoyable guide to programming in unreal at Packit Publishing again I wish to thank Rachel and Shaveer for this oppertunity. It has been enlightening to say the least.
