End of April 2012 summary

So not the month I wanted. So far I’ve been without my monster machine for a month and working as much as I can to raise up enough to repair my wife’s laptop which will more or less now fail as the a/c power port on the back of her laptop is blown and refuses to stay connected. I am giving her my Compaq Evo N800c Laptop instead I am uninstalling the skype and removing my robotics lab software,  my music and giving her the machine with a clean install of vista ultimate 64Bit and office.

I also received the replacement  Hard drive from Seagate last week but to my surprise they did in fact stay  true to their word and sent in replacement of the IDE 320 Gig drive I received a 320 gig Sata drive so in fact once I am able to swap out my motherboard with a new one, which the hard drive controller was the only thing wrong with it, the cpu and memory and Pcie are fine, I should be able to run nice and smoothly again since I did back up my operating system this time.

My eldest’s laptop is starting to show signs of severe hardware issues, and a laptop chassis that will take more than just a little bondo and sandpaper to take care of. But I have already started on and have almost completed rebuilt 900 MHz dell latitude from scrap dells a friend gave me as a project. I have a spare monitor lid I want to swap out due to a line of dead pixels straight down the middle and the spare doesn’t have that issue so I’ll be swapping that out, then just get a laptop drive to install on in and it should be good to go on it. Plus it will beat the pants off the old Windows 2k pro 266 MHz Dell she’s been working off of over the past 2 yrs.

Debating on whether to place in a multi card reader in the machine once it’s rebuilt or not. I will however be building a 4 driver array with the controller card I got from a friend of mine while we tried to troubleshoot the old one. Dealing with al lot of asshats lately thru the FB gaming scene, tons of trolls that have nothing better to do than to harass and annoy you and others while you try to accomplish your game goals.

It’s sad truly sad that people have to become the assholes they were harassed by in school in some way to compensate for the lack of popularity they yearned for in high school and nay do I dare say college as well? Or maybe they were/are just assholes outright and like making a game or life in general difficult for others which sounds like the majority vote on that.

Meh, if that’s what it takes to get them thru the day, all I can do just block them and be done with them myself.  Oh and I -=know=- there will be those out there that say “But that’s so immature of you to block them, why not be a man and just ignore them? Because at some point you get sick of it plain and simple, and if an opportunity arises to block and eliminate said annoyance and counter productive environment I’ll take it rather than dealing with them because in past events ignoring them is just not an option in some cases. Well in any case, hopefully by next month I should have my beast reawakened again and maybe improved upon a tiny bit as well, till May, talk to you soon.

Ravaged a “2 Dawn Game Title “- Trailer review Entitled “Ravaged”

If you like what you see please support these guys on KickStarter Take a look at their first teaser trailer to Ravage a 3rd person/1st person shooter that looks like it takes place in one of those Mad max films. There are quite a few nice features in this and you can tell the team did a lot of hard work and effort into the project. The Gyro-Helios, the pieced out hobble built vehicles that you’d see in great epic classics B Movies like “Hardware” and “The Omega Man” and even “Damnation Alley”. I like the desert scenery the level designer did with the highway overpasses and crossways. I am hoping to see a trailer showing off battle sequences in the urban part of the cities and how they were structured. Where sniper nests might be, how to get to them, and the like.

Manga Reveiw of Kingyo’s Used Books

So what is Madarame reading this time? I’m reading Kingyo’s used Books, a 12 Volume series that revolves around manga and how it entwines with people’s lives in a regular basis. I’ve read thru up to volume 4 so far and the journeys some of these sedories go through all In the name of manga and its preservation as a media culture is really quite a read and an enjoyable one as well.

One of the things I did notice and quite contrary to what Mr. Santo Carlo says, the back of the books give footnotes and points of reference to help broaden the mind of those getting into manga or those already involved but did not know of X manga had this or that involved in it. I found it to be educational as well as fun.

So I have to disagree to what he said Mr. Carlos in his Anime News Network column “Right Turn Only” gave the manga a grade of “B”, saying that “if you want to get a non-manga fan into manga, this is probably not the manga to give them.” Mr. Carlos went on to say, “Kingyo is, if anything, too fixated on giving history lessons, trying to drown the reader in footnotes and details rather than letting the series speak for itself.” Which I think is the total opposite, I think has the footnotes in the back can clearly give more insight to the reader on the subjects being discussed within the manga itself.

It does give the reader some educational liners in there. I found some of the information enlightening in the way it was present and having the footnotes in the back was a good move as to not hit the reader right off the bat but rather when they did get to the end of the volume where they could check out the omake and footnotes IF the reader deemed to do so. But no spoilers, rather best to contact your local library and ask if they Kingyo’s used books from Viz Media in their manga section but if they don’t? Make the suggestion to getting it!

Week of 04/09/ to 04/13/ and the events that transpired.

Hey what’s going on everyone? It’s spring finally, and I’ve been in my backyard fighting the overgrown grass and weeds. Found out while out there we have vermin! They are gophers and moles to be exact, so I’ve had to become a villain and lay down poison down the holes and mounds and make sure that they get the message to clear off my parcel of land.

Also took the wife to see American reunion 2 weeks ago before anyone else. Found out about the new Mass Effect anime Paragon lost, and a new series on HULU called Accel world. Seen the 1st two Eps on hulu and I’m hooked.
It’s the basic otaku dropping into a virtual world reality to escape his own. He is helped of one the upperclassman girls of the school and one of the most popular and on the student council as well. I think however that the upperclassman student has more up her sleeve than she is letting on.

The hard drive on the machine somehow made a remarkable recovery because now it says its fine and healthy, not dirty in the slightest. The replacement hard drive for Robotics lab 1 came in last week. Now I just have to get enough funds to replace the bad mainboard and get the OS restored on it which should take much to do. I almost have the funds to repair the wife’s laptop but I’m still roughly 35 $ short.
However I did sell those CCTV Cameras I bought off ebay to a friend of mine in ohio for 20.00 +shipping which should help her fix her mother’s house security. Seems there might be some trouble with the landscaping people she hired to help out on the property and going through her stuff in the garage while her mother is sleeping or away.

In other news I found an old friend through a mutual friend on FB here recently. It’s been roughly 9 to 10 yrs now I think since I last talked with her before she pulled a Houdini and vanished off the web for a good long awhile till recently. Will have to try to attempt to catch up with her at some point and see what each other has been up to over the past 9/10 years. Well crud burgers almost time to clock out and jet to the post office, get gas and get home to help with dinner and see how one of my wee ones are recovering over some nasty bug she caught.

Oh and yet again Matt Dowsett has been drop kicked back to the minor leagues back to his little site on the net where the rest of his lowborw nerdherd graze as the rednecks tend to their needs. All because he had to follow me and post up where didn’t need to be. Nor the rude shit he posted on my FB was well. No, just like a certain someone I know this one also got kicked to the curb, but only on slightly related topics and reasons.
