Blah, depressed and sullen

Ok, maybe it’s the weather. I don’t know at this point but as of late I feel like people have been ignoring me or attempting to avoid me on purpose and I’m just sick of it. If someone says to you sure! That sounds like a ton of fun! Count me in as onboard. That would tell me they want to help out and pitch in where they can be the most use of.

Well that’s all great and froddy, but I send an email on what is needed at the moment and I get no replies from anyone, nothing, nadda, zip, zilch. I’d just assume they tell me to fuck off and walk away than keep my hoping someone is actually going to work with me on this project. I don’t want empty promises and assurances; I want results and want some concrete results. I want to be able to write or at least assist in writing with the reviews up on the work being done by said X or Y. So, for the past 3 years we’ve got the following done my not completed.

1. Got the Cityscape that William Macphee did for the MegaTokyo204 Website into UE4 incomplete but within the editor.
2. Thru 2 Friends we have a number of weapons that need coding and maybe texturing.
3. We have at least 2 maybe 3 models to use in the map
4. Vehicles are there just not coded.

What we need is art plain and simple I know my character artist is doing what she needs to take care of for her and the upcoming event she is going to, so no ill will or feelings involved. I’d like to hear from the person however that said they’d love to do the environment art for MegaTokyo to help us map out MegaTokyo and design and assist in fleshing out new areas of the game and expanding out from RPG artwork to Game and Architectural Design concepts again. Person I’m referring to knows who they are I don’t need to call anyone out on this. I just want some results, some tangible I could post up and am like YES! This is awesome this is what I am striving to achieve!

But I think it’s all falling on deaf ears because no one gets back to me, I leave mgs on Facebook, it gets dismissed the only ones that seem to be listening to me and still show interest is Bruce and Dani, they seem to be the two people *truly* interested in this project and want to make it work want to see it through. I know they have their commissions to do, the freelance work and peeps are paying them for it and I know they have to work to keep up a living so I don’t press them for anything due to myself having no shinnies or munnys to commission them myself so I could see the work and I could get some of the new talent out there involved in mapping and coding to help them build up their portfolios. I’m done ranting I think I’ll go to a corner and just be depressed for a while.

End of this week wrap up.

So what was this week like? A bit much like the past few weeks, money money  money pouring like a river over the falls. One the cars needs some major rear axle work due to one the brake seals being worn and saturating the back driver’s brake pads (That’s going to be $ just due to the labor on disassembling the rear axle to do get the repair done.

There is also an oil leak somewhere on the front and the filter needs to be changed out, and the gas pedal sticks when you lean on it from time to time. I’d assume to sell it but the skeptic needs find out how much out of pocket it would take to get it repaired since it was supposed to go to our Eldest daughter for her 1st vehicle, and if it would cost the same as a used car or slightly less?  I might bite the bullet and get it repaired. Other choice is sell it back to them (My mother in law bought it from them a number of years back) and squirrel away the money towards a better vehicle.

Wife’s mother’s day present hasn’t shown up yet, there is less than 72 hours left and it still isn’t here. I’m hopeful though I won’t give up hope. I’m going to finish off a few things around the house for mother’s day as well and getting the office a bit more squared away than it is currently. Plus have to get two more rooms moved between now and the end of the month, and maybe repaint a bathroom or two. (Pending on paint left over.)

Podcast side, not much to say save that I did get 3 of 4 encoded and uploaded to the podcast’s YT channel. Compiled an mp3/Video from our interview with LB Bryant and Amanda Rush, from http://ani.me, after listening to the podcast Max did a cool job of it and I love getting the new info from LB and Amanda for the upcoming summer season. Google Hangout was a mess Thursday night it seems, it took us 4x tries and even then after the 4th when it said it was finally recording and we had 2 of the 3 members from Triple Slash Studios from The U of U Gaming Education Dept. and discussed their release afterwards THE DAMN THING DIDN’T RECORD ANY OF IT! FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU! Over an hour of their time and ours WASTED because Google Hangout had some type of glitch on the server back end. We’ll just attempt to rerecord this coming week,

Our Eldest Daughter is going under the knife as well. A Bunion has surfaced on her left foot and is 15 rather than the norm 7 as far as length goes on bunions so we’re going to readjust our family vacation this year since she’ll have to wear a boot for at least a two month period for recovery time.

My mother has found the internet and discovered eBay so she’s becoming quite fluent in the ways of the business end of that company with how she can stop an nifty item or two at an auction and know roughly how much of a turn around It can return profit wise. She’s also delved deeply into the genealogy field as well, tracking down our connections the Cromwell’s and Hinton’s of The British Isles, as well as scanning in some of the family photos this week too. (Thanks mom, I mean it.) That brought a few tears to my eyes because I thought I lost some of them and I couldn’t recall them without thinking and concentrating too much.

Also, to some of you out there that I have lost touch with due to one thing or another?  I’m sorry, and this by no means is a crutch to lean on at all. My add/adhd seemed to have got loose, I have been lashing out a few people I lost a friend in my anger and I want to say to her I’m sorry. I should have tried to have been more patient and even understanding, I however don’t like having things kept from me either.  But I should have also been wary of you felt about your situation at the time as well. To the others, yup I can be a truly bonfied asshole, but I wasn’t the only one at fault, but I do accept my role in what transpired in our interactions. Please know I’m sorry, and that I hope you’ll move on without thinking of me too badly or with much disdain.  It’s Friday, and I need to finish my workload, so that’s it for now. I might post up after we do the next Podcast recording. OH and to Brent Lengel, HAPPY BIRTHDAY again you 30 Year old Sod! Love ya (In that comrade manly way of ways) stay strong always!

Updated News on Defiance the MMO Debuted at Comicon 2012

I am talking about none other than Defiance ! That is correct you heard it here! Defiance has opned up Beta recruitment for Arc Hunters I’ve already registered myself, but don’t let my excitement be the only lure to this most fantastic looking MMO. See for yourself here is a look at the gameplay itself. I think I can let it do the talking for itself!

So, am I right? DAMN RIGHT I’M RIGHT! The Co-Op gameplay s looking pretty sweet and that fact that the TV Series Syfy has coming out in April is an added bonus because elements during the series also take place in the game universe as well. I am looking so forward to playing this Beta MMO. It’s showing lots of promise and I’m sure it will not disappoint. Take a look at some of the Screenshots as well as a map I found in regard to the game.

A Technological leap happened less than 24 Hrs Ago

Well, where I am nothing but rusty with my whole Japanese, I can however say that this is some of the most exciting news yet. Less than 24 hrs. ago it was announced the 1st fully operational Mech was avlib for purchase. Bad news it’s 1.3 Million US. $ . Most MechWarriors will be screaming over this true, but I am more into it for the sheer fact it’s a Mech, that I TOLD those I used to RPG with in fact to point when we watched Madox-01 Metal Skin Panic for the first time and at the end they had that documentary on the military weaponry that was used as research for the slave troopers. Well guess who has the last laugh on this one? I DO!

Think of this as the edge of finally applying that which most of us thought was fantasy and being able to produce an actual functional mecha with dual Gatling mini guns (Using plastic BBs) and a 4 chambered Water powered missile launcher. Now as I hear the laughing, (I know it did sound funny at first for me as well.) but think about it. They have a Gundam at Diver Tokyo Mall automated and everything from Gundam Unicorn, but what if that could be re-worked and brought into a practical stance?

Kuratas Prototype Demo 1

Kuratas Prototype Demo 2

I know it’s a long way off taking in consideration of balancers and gyro stabilizers, but we’re nearly there with this The Kuratas Prototype. Runs on gas, (diesel fuel) it’s semi modular, it has a functional Cockpit face tracking tech based O/S, it works with 3G WI-Fi. There are some drawbacks, the tracking is a bit slow, and the mech travels at 10K an hour. But think of technological boundaries Japan just leaped across. Suidobashijuko really outdid their selves with this one. I am still astounded at the work that was placed into this project and that it was kept under wraps till now, just wow. I also liked the Press release they had and the way they presented it at WonderCon this year. I’m now leaving it up to you to comment on your feedback on this great announcement.!

Augmented Reality, meets VR Idol Miku Hatsune

Well, this is an odd way to expanded on the Virtual/Augmented Reality technology. A young man from a Technical University in Japan on YouTube has posted a video showing him actually on a date with Miku Hatsune (Popular VR Singing Artist and VR Gamer (See Garry’s mod)) using a mixture of technology specifically in regards to integrating as Xtion PRO motion sensor to a pair of Visual VR goggles, which  allowed him document He and Miku in several places in what appears to be tokyo.

During the Documented video we see this young man interacting with Miku in the “real world” and up till near the end, it was an interesting and still is yet at the end, there was and I know it may have been for fanservice humor, but still the skirt flipping could have been avoided.

I understand that it was demonstrative purposes, but the young man should have also clearly stated that the video was for demonstrative purposes as other sites have had comments reflecting humorous comments rather than ones with more seriousness inquiry as to HOW the technology works and how the young man had constructed the pair of interactive “Augmented Reality” spectacles and the programming thereof.

To read more on this you can read one the articles involved on this directly at hackaday’s website. I find the technology ultimately a step further towards holographic technology and interactive gameplay and military appilicaltion as well as medical there also leads to questions of a morale nature as well. Please feel free to comment your ideas and opinions as well.

Thanks everyone hope your day is well.

Replacement Mainboard arrives and This just in a Ghost in the Shell based Cyber Security Software from NCIT.

Hello everyone,

Hope your day is going well? It is Wednesday, and my replacement mainboard has arrived at the house. I want to get a new set of screws though for mounting. Chris at Hero PC is going to hook me up with a set. In return I’m going hand him a set of 4 case screws, it’s an equivalent exchange of equal value I think. Besides, he’s done a bit for me out the kindness of his shop, and I appreciate his help.

Also in the tech news side of things it seems that NICT has developed a cyber-attack alert system entitled Daedalus. Daedalus renders a 3d Layout overlay on attacks on the networks visible in real time. The sphere in the center represents our global net; the circles moving around it represent networks under surveillance.

The state of an attack shown in the video represented in 3D format is viewed by any perspective. This is also very reminiscent of how the global internet is represent in Ghost in the Shell a Series produced by Production I.G. Studios.
NICT is also the creators of a system called nicter for cyber-attacks surveillance. They are also responsible for the observation network in Japan, entitled “the Darknet Observation Network”, to keep an eye on IP addresses not used in nicter. D.O.N is observing over 190,000 IP addresses in Japan at its current status. Daedalus is an alert system using this particular network.

Today’s cyber-attacks breach boundary defenses from inside and outside organizations, including the spread of malware via USB memory sticks and mail attachments, as well other normal every day distribution . Applying Daedalus with a conventional boundary system is expected to improve network security within companies and small businesses.

If you’ll notice in the video and see that the blue array in this company shows IP addresses that are being applied, and the black array shows addresses that are not being applied. This character marker is indicating an alert. When you click on this alert, a message showing the cause appears. In this example, only two packets have been sent. But because the packets go from an address that’s used to an address that’s not used, this indicates that there is a viral issue starting to spread within the company network.

“If this kind of situation is inputted into the observation network, it can observe it, and studied. The system automatically sends an alert, saying, ‘This IP address of yours is spreading a virus using this protocol at this time. The technology for this system will be transferred to clwit, which will include it in a commercial alert service called SiteVisor. NICT also provides the system free of charge to educational institutions where nicter sensors can be installed and placed into service.

The fact that this resembles some of I.G.’s Artwork and the style it was created in reference to Ghost in the Shell is another win for the otaku generation in my opinion and I hope to see more software leaning to leaning towards these GUI Structures.

Well, just got home and got things together, but I’m not confident enough atm to plug it in and test it, so I’m taking it to work with me tomorrow and having one the guys I trust take a look at it and make any adjustments that might be needed. So hopefully by this time tomorrow evening I’ll be back pwing n00bs and weebos. Till then night and happy fragging!

Memorial Day Weekend kicks off tonight for me !

Where to start? Ok!  My PC is back up save for my pcie video card my 1 gig card is dead! But I am surviving off the onboard video for the time being. I am looking at a Zoltac 2gig pcie NVidia chipset which will take care of a lot of issues development and gaming and video rendering.  I’m selling off a few items of my own on eBay to help raise the means to purchase said part.

In lighter news The Cool Kids Club podcasts are done and over there is not more CKC, however we do have now, The Cybernauts Podcast now, featured on here on WP, and soon a mirror at jp-studios as well. I think our kick off episode is going to come out quite nicely once the editing is done.  We also have now on the cast Amanda, Dustin, Josh, and Jon plus me.  We’ve also got a number of guest spots on the show as well, no name dropping just know that it’s going to be an extreme honor and pleasure to be able to talk with our guests in these upcoming episodes.

CONduit is this weekend and I’m not going due to some of the way the convention and events were handled from what I have been told and I just decided that this year I’m not even going sweat piss or moan about not going. I do wish the SLC ERT-GB well on their volunteer staffing this year at CONduit and we’ll see them live and direct at Anime Banzi in Oct! WOO! Which I hope I can maybe get a word in edge wise on getting a possible headliner artist to show up at Anime banzi this year and if not maybe next year.

I finally got a hard drive replacement for the family PC it is an IDE not sata which I would have preferred but I won’t complain 320 Gig ide is a great thing especially when I am getting the hit F1 to resume of death error message on boot up of that PC. I have pet project I am working on with a Dell SX270 and getting Linux installed on it rather than Xp which is slower than dog dirt on it with only 512 of ram on it. If anyone does read this and has 2 sticks of 512 PC 2700 333 or 400 MHz please let me know what we could try to work out as a deal? I can try to work something out.

Also I know this might be old news but I just discovered Hellgate the MMO and I’m having a blast on this game. Although it is pretty lonely out here with my sword and armor just keeping me company. So if there is anyone out there that would like to come along and slaughter and dice demon meat together?  My Character’s name is Ryu Haruanobu of The house of The Jade Phoenix and a Knight Templar, so hit me up and lets go what do you say ?

Well just about time for me to start the 4 day weekend. Hope your memorial day Week end will be as awesome as mine will hopefully be.

Monday an hour ahead makes the day seem short

Currently at work, on break so don’t get up in my grill. Weekend “sucked” 250 gig Sata Hard drive died just after doing an image backup of it, thank god I was able to do that much at least this time. So, I worked on it had about 4+ hours of sleep since Friday IM’d a few peeps on tech support *off the click* to maybe see about getting an extra pair of hands to help guide me where I might be going wrong on the restore.

Restore wasn’t restoring as it should have been. No reason either to explain the incident. Image verified as clean, BCD/Bootable according to the hard drive after restore, I even went to the bios and told it that it was safe to boot from the hard drive again. Still Disk Failure insert a system disk press enter. After about 7 hours of testing and diagnosing I placed in a support ticket out of frustration and sheer stupidity on my part. But Darren was cool about it and just said bring in today and we’ll test it out to see what is going on with it.

So, currently while I’m at the front desk, the OS backup image is being re-verified so I don’t look like some crazy nut that is off his rocker. Maybe the logs will show tier 2 something that I didn’t see or had passed up not seeing it for what it was? In either way I am hoping that the system will be restored and operational by the time I get off work to take care of the house and other daily duties that await my after work hours as well.

Reveiw: UDK Programming with UnrealScript a Beginners Guide to Unreal Enlightenment.

First off, let me say what a great privilege this is to have been able to do a read through and apply the lessons that are in the chapters and the explanations and how they work.  I thought at 1st this was going to be a tedious tasking, being someone who dislikes having to use mathematics in programming. Being someone with a slight learning curve, Ms. Cordone AKA AngleMapper to the unreal community brings programming with UDK fun for the new user.

I was asked to review a particular chapter of the book, and sadly I cannot. Why? Because the whole book itself is a great read and learning tool to those that are starting out and have questions on how the inner working of UDK work and are applied within each other. The hands on examples are great as you can apply them to your own alpha as you’re building your game and its environment. About ¼ the way thru the book I got to the awesome actor section and was always curious on how the actor/model stood on the floor without going halfway through it which was always something I beat my head against.

But after reading through that particular section I was able to understand and wrap my head around it. I finally knew the values and how the rotation worked without the headache I would end up giving myself in the end in frustration. All in all for Ms. Cordone’s Guide to UDK I for one am giving this book a 9.5 out of 10 for aiming towards the little guy and addressing issues some of us out here with learning curve issues and helping us grasp and understand the concepts and learning from them at that angle. I thank Rachel and Shaveer for this great opportunity it is a pleasure finally to grasp things that seemed more complicated than they actually are. You can order this informative and enjoyable guide to programming in unreal at Packit Publishing again I wish to thank Rachel and Shaveer for this oppertunity. It has been enlightening to say the least.
