What’s been going on overthe past few weeks?

So some big changes have come along the lines. The Cybernaut Podcast has been turned over to me in full. The reasons given were that Dustin and Dave wanted to concentrate on their college courses more for now and may start a new podcast in 2013 at some point. Josh is still onboard for the time being and stepping into to fill Dustin’s shoes is one of my old friends from San Diego California, Robert Jone aka Tobias Steele and One of my friends from one the older and still operational mucks on the net Anime Muck, one Ken Akamatsu AKA Max Sterling/Jenius. Our European field operative hails from Her Majesty’s own Carmarthen/Carmarthenshire UK David Treharne an up and coming Game Developer and Current Games Review for an online Magazine publication site.

We’ve had our first podcast here two weeks ago with Arik R. Avila of D7 Studios and his Production Assistant and current love interest 😉 Ms. Ciara Flynn as well as Actress, which went over well save for an audio issue where we picked up a reverb echo over the broadcast and we never could track down who it originated from. Anyways, we’re almost done with the reedits and will be posting it at the podcast WP here by the end of the week. Next podcast is going to be pretty cool as well, we have from Funimation’s own Voice Acting troupe Mr. Christopher Patton, along with Mr. Richard Davis who has been teaching over in japan on again off again for over a period of six years collectively and will share some insights to you listeners out there on what to expect if you’re one of those few that wish to make a career overseas in Japan. We also have Steve “Warky” Nunez, infamous Convention Keyboardist extreme and a dubiously funny voice actor himself and have been noted for lending his voice for the Anime Parody of Card Captor Sakura Abridged.

And it’s been snowing here off and on but seems to be melting off pretty fast too. The end of the world supposedly will be in ten days from this posting so let’s all hope the Mayans had it wrong eh? Christmas tree has been placed up the house has its lights up and all seems ok with the world for now, but I still have the feeling for the other shoe to drop and ruin everything for the holidays. Who has something to share for their Christmas list this year? OH COME ON PEOPLE!

Someone out there must want to share at least one thing they want for Christmas? Really? No one? Ok I’ll start then.
1. Assistance installing a MP3 Page for jp-studios
2. Someone to Rig and Animate the 3 models I have that need them to be ported into UT2k4
3. A Madarame Harunobu Genshiken Cast Figurine – Ebay has them
4. I have Volumes 9-8 and 7 of Genshiken the Manga and I’d like to at least be able to have 1 thru 6 or 10 thru 13 of the NEW Genshiken 2nd Generation so at least I’ll have either collected the old series up or I have picked and have collected upto date the new series.
5. One decent environmental game artist that will stick with the team and not wander off somewhere because all of a sudden “Gee, this seems like actual work” feeling comes across their brain.

My youngest made it to the school district’s Honors Orchestral Symphony and tonight is her last night for the Christmas circuit. My eldest has an appointment for a college essays one night course tonight has well but we have it all juggled to where it should work out just fine.

Oh before I end this entry, let me promote firefall first. Firefall has been in closed beta for a few months now and I’ve just started myself like 2 sessions ago and have to say this is a MAD CRAZY MMO SHOOTER ! Damn I haven’t had this much fun since Quake came out. The Environment is lush and the palettes and textures were well thought out. The Questing w/o giving away too much is pretty cool as well. The game and questing definitely promotes great team play and a balancing of solo missions with some nice swag to go with you as well. This is one FPS MMO I’ll promote as well. That’s it for now, comments as usually are welcome but keep em clean and be a tad respectful, we do try to keep the maturity level to a PG-13 level around here.

Anime Banzai 2012 Review

Hello everyone just got back last night from Anime Banzai 2012. It was fantastic time had by all. We took off as soon as I got home. We arrived about 5:30 checked in settled into the room went across and got our badges. I saw Dan for the 1st time since last year and the 1st words out my mouth were “Ok, where do I start assembling the Audio/Video equipment?” It was like nothing had changed, just 361 days had passed by like nothing and we were just resetting up the anime viewing rooms. We got everything set up and asked Dan if anything else was needed. So I walked down the hallway and Adam needed help setting up the Anime Banzai Merchandise Store. So I ended up folding about 400 Plus shirts for the store. Mind you I was volunteering yes, but I didn’t write down any numbers or anything, why?

It’s Banzai and some the staff needed a hand, so I lent it without anything in return. While folding shirts I got to meet with Amanda Rush, LB Bryant, and Micah Solusod as they were given the guided tour of the center. I headed back to the hotel around 10:30 pm just because my body started getting sore through the shoulders and heading down, figured time for some sleep. Next morning it was time to wake up and tackle the day, got down stairs the family was already eating breakfast, so I grabbed some grub washed it down and headed over to the con early to yes, create neko ears! I was one the early birds and snagged myself a nice light blonde material for the ears and a tan headband to accompany it with, afterwards headed back over to the hotel to drop them off after showing off a bit. The girls had already headed out and hit the game room, while my wife and oldest hit the convention hall and took in a panel or two.

While that was going on I ran in to a number of people from last year with their cosplay on and I decided to take a pic of a few the great ones. While this was happening I ran into Steve Nunez, AKA Warky T Chocobo to his friends and family, we chatted how things had been and the general chatter, he seems to build up some muscle since last year. I was impressed because I had gained 7 lbs. since the last time we spoke in person. We exchanged some ideas, nodded and enjoyed the rest of the day. I also ran into Amanda and LB while I was taking in the convention and the crowd. I then ran into Chris Patton and David Vincent and Dan Miller as they were taking in the crowd and atmosphere of Banzai, I asked if it would be ok to possibly sit and interview Chris at some point before the end of Banzai. He agreed and best of all it was on Saturday 4:30 pm. Off and on afterwards I just hung out at the anime viewing room and watched a few 1st and 2nd Episodes that had come out recently from funimation who is one the sponsors of Anime Banzai it seems. I could be wrong, but most of the anime was Aniplex/Funimantion I did however see one Manga Entertainment DVD during the weekend.

The night fell and we ended up getting some greasy pizza from a place called NYPD Pizza, well I’ll tell you, it wasn’t NY Style pizza I’m used to, the cheesy bread was awful, I’d have rather spent the $ on Little Caesar’s than NYPD Pizza, it was just that bad. During the night I wandered back over because there was a few episodes I wanted to see so I took a seat and just relaxed and then 20 mins into the show BAM a fire drill some numb nut decided it would be cool to create some more fog in the Hotel’s Lounge/Bar while they attempted to do Techno mixes of J-pop tunes. We had to evacuate the building then we’re told false alarm it was ok to go back in. Next thing I know it goes off again this time we played it smart and just closed the door. This fire drill bit went off 2 more times that night I was woken up at 12:13 am by Richard I think letting me know they were closing down the room for the night, as I wandered back to the hotel room I met up with LB Bryant and decided to just to an informal brief “hey how are ya?” conversation with my cell phone. He was enjoying the convention loves the weather and the people and fans. He’s got the smoking bug and asked what his brand was? Marlboro 720 asked him if he had any problems with the smoking range rules we have here in Utah and he had no mind to it. Follow the rules to the best you can eh? Well I wished him a pleasant evening and ended up back in the room in bed and asleep.

Next morning same routine this time however with my wife’s help I was able to don on my cosplay as Tomodachi AKA Friend from 20th Century Boys The Trilogy Movie set. We walked up and down the hall for a bit walked thru the Artist alley and only “1” person noticed me I think. Afterward a bit disheartened I went back and changed back into my normal Convention wear and spent the day mostly talking with LB and Micah off and on as we ran into each other, and I was able to walk in on Micah’s Q and A Panel and caught a small bit of him doing the “Blackstaaaaaar!” shtick which we all got a great laugh out of. There David Vincent’s panel on the Business of Voice Acting which was pretty informative I must say. Afterwards got together with family discussed dinner the girls ran back to the game room again, my wife was on her laptop doing some work related project. I remembered I had my 4:30 interview with Chris Patton and indeed I was on time and we were able to do a short but cool interview, I got your autograph that you wanted Dustin! Merry Early Christmas present bro. After the interview I headed up the hotel and relaxed for a few and also ended up cleaning a broken glass from the ground in the kitchen area in our room. I was just glad that our daughter didn’t get cut or anything. After those things kind of blurred together, I remember going to bed but not too much before though.

Sunday came, we got dressed for our final day, where we attended a Japanese Fairy Tale Panel, a Sentai Panel and last the Make and Take bead bracelet Panel. After all that we went back to the hotel I turned in our keys and we basically just came back home from an awesome weekend. I did however invite the entire guest line up to the podcast I co-host on as well. So here is to a closing of a great Anime Banzai 2012 and start planning on Anime Banzai 2013.

Oct has begun as the ponds have gone but not been forgotten PLUS Anime Banzi is 19 days away !

Greetings peeps,

It’s the beginning of the fall season with the turning of the leaves as the ending of a great relationship among friends and companions. That’s right, The Doctor and the ponds parted way this last Saturday 09/29/2012. I was surprised and shocked at the end myself, no spoilers. It was really a shot to the gut though, and also the end of the midway season till The Doctor Who Christmas 2012 Special. We did get a glimpse of a recently familiar face from a few episodes ago in the Christmas Special preview. The Ponds/Williams will be missed as they are missed by The Raggedy Man on his Wife as they travel thru time and space.

Anime Banzi is around the corner on Oct 19th in Layton Utah, and I’ve already got my cosplay planned and 99% completed. This year plans to be an awesome one. Peeps from Ani.me will be there Amanda Rush and L.B. Bryant doing several panels. Chris Patton Voice Actor as well as television actor, been seen in NCIS, he is also the American dubbed Van in Gun X Swords, and My Personal Fave ikki from AirGears Anime Series as well as doing a number of Video Game Character acting as well. David Vincent Well Known Voice actor in the anime industry, Micah Solusod another recently famous Voice Actor has been in FMA: Sacred Star of Milos and number of recent anime series and OVAs will be on hand in a number of the panels that will be at . Anime Banzi Tickets and Hotel Rooms are still available, come on down or up and check out this great Convention.

A few reviews are up and coming as well. Black Mesa and Ravage both available on steam. One being freeware build on the source engine and the 2nd being for 2Play Studios in beta at the moment so review will be in posted when I can get to it. Although from the screenshots the engine looks beautiful, the renders are absolutely gorgeous complimented by the textures that have been applied. Also on the gaming side of things, Bruce is working on a few models at the moment and we should be seeing some excellent shots of his work on these models very soon at our studio WP site as well as our website and Indeed.

Personally on my own end of things, my father’s shoulder is on the mend for the time being. The Dr. says it won’t be fully mobile till about march roughly since it takes 6 months of healing for the surgery to be a full on success. He’ll have at least 4 more visits between now and the end of November. I wished I could be back there helping out him and my mother both till the shoulder was fully recovered. My brother is however a few hours away and can be there if necessary I’m sure. Plans for renovation in the house are being discussed as well. There is talk on painting, switching people’s rooms, disassembling the office and moving it down stairs, which would be a good thing. I could finally G+ Hangout / Video Cast on my YT as well with some of the podcast crew I work with at our Cybernauts Podcast WP Site.

And why can’t we have more of this instead of Bullying, or Ragging or Trolling? A Question to leave feedback on I’d say.
