Egon Spengler is a genius. He got his first degree at the same age his contemporaries were leaving grade school. Professor Egon Spengler is a tall, laconic, possibly or slightly awkward member of the original GB team and responsible for most of theoretical framework for the paranormal/quantum events they have a knack to encounter. Being a man of science, he is the creator of the Ghostbusters’ equipment along with Doctor Raymond Stantz, making him the database of the Ghostbusters team. Although brilliant, Professor Spengler doesn’t have much social ability (as demonstrated in his interactions with the Ghostbusters’ secretary Janine Melnitz), and generally needed Peter to do the talking for the group, to dumb down it for others. He’s proficient in ancient languages, including Sumerian and the esoteric script that dates at the same time the tomes that predict ragnarok and the end of times.

Spengler is the most serious and straight-forward member of the team. Of his hobbies, he states that he collects “spores, molds, and fungus”, and claims that, as a child, the only toy he ever had was “part of a Slinky”, which he straightened out. As implied in the first movie, Spengler apparently is a sugar junkie, due to his affection for sweets and candy (such as Twinkies and Nestle Crunch bars). He also once attempted self-trepanation, but was stopped by Peter Venkman. As Venkman told Spengler “This reminds me of the time you tried to drill a hole in your head,” to which Spengler replied, “That would have worked if you hadn’t stopped me.”

Background: Family History among Spengler males to repress their emotions and focus on everything in a dethatched, scientific manner. This explains why he tends not to be reciprocal to Janine’s affections for the most past. But he HAS shown signs that she has taken some claim to his heart. Faint displays of jealousy, disappointment, relief, remorse and even mild pleasure have been displayed by him in matters regarding her. He even admits to her in the comic that he isn’t very good at dealing with people he cares about. Egon even said words to the effect that he would not be adverse to the idea of a kiss from her when he got back. Professor Spengler is also known to know two other languages, Sumerian and Sign Language.

Profession: Professor, Scientist and Ghostbusters, Egon after being in solitude for 8 years after the vigo incident he was found maintaining the Firehouse along keeping Slimer there as well for “scientific reasons”. It was in March 17th 2003 that a modified P.K.E. Radius Alert started going off in the firehouse, Slimer alerted this to Egon who was at NYU expanding and teaching students on spirits and the paranormal. Egon after getting the meter went to the site of activity and no one believed him about the tunnel. After tons of calls Egon decided it would be best to reopen the Ghostbusters. His role was of a mentor for the new team of Ghostbusters. For the most part, he usually leaves the field work to the new members, opting to provide audio back-up from the firehouse and information on their current adversary. He would still take to the field on some missions, but express frustration that he was no longer as agile or quick as when he was younger, and being very conscious of his age 39.

Background: Kylie was practically abandoned by her mother Jill when she was six, and her father Steven had to work constantly to support them both–Kylie was essentially raised by Steven’s grandmother, Rose Lockyer. Her interest in the paranormal is both an aftereffect of her brief possession by the Avatar of Aquarius in 1991 (an event she really has no clear memory of) and the death of Great Grandma Rose in 1991.

Profession: Kylie enrolled in Parapsychology 101 at New York City Community College in 1997. The instructor was Professor Egon Spengler, one of the Ghostbusters she idolized. After being briefly possessed by Achira, Kylie joined with her three fellow students to form the second team of Ghostbusters New York, sometimes nicknamed the “Extreme” Ghostbusters, which has now expanded out over the yrs to the GGBW Ltd.

Background: Having a past of being lazy, sarcastic and at times a clueless buffoon, Eduardo nevertheless jumps in showing himself an integral part of the team has been stout, determined and reliable. Eduardo resembles original Ghostbusters Peter Venkman in that, like Venkman, Eduardo has a sarcastic humor and outlook, has a slight unscientific outlook on events and has this annoying habit spouting pop culture references.

Eduardo has had this long-run dealing with a love/hate relationship between him and Kylie Griffin, He finally admitted he had intimate feelings and dreams about her when he thought he was at death’s door. Eduardo also has an older brother, Carlos Rivera, an NYPD officer who dislikes Eduardo’s career choice on being a Ghostbusters. It is also known that Eduardo is afraid of death itself after facing enough times.
