HAWKEN BETA KEY GIVEWAY Sponsored BY NVIDIA

That’s right ladies and gentlemen, I have been told and this was posted a just a few hours ago that the team that has built Hawken is prepping for another Beta run and has given Nvidia 10000 Beta Keys to get into the action and mayhem that is Hawken. Adhesive Games has been at this for just over 2 yrs. worth of dedication and work.

A number of groups have got in their heads that MWO is better than Hawken. Let’s not quibble on who’s crankshaft is better or larger than the other’s shall we? There are quite a number of differences with the both games the most distinct is that MWO is more strategic whereas Hawken is an all out battle Royale FPS. I’m already joined and ready for action myself on their forums and getting prepped for the next beta session. Are you going join up? You think you have what it takes to take me on as well a few hundred thousand other players that are better than I am? Click the link and join up then and engage that combat console n00b! It’s time to destroy some Mechs!

EDITTED Hawken Beta Code Giveaway

Nvidia says Thank you for your interest. The sweepstakes is now closed. Winners will be announced soon.

Ravaged a “2 Dawn Game Title “- Trailer review Entitled “Ravaged”

If you like what you see please support these guys on KickStarter Take a look at their first teaser trailer to Ravage a 3rd person/1st person shooter that looks like it takes place in one of those Mad max films. There are quite a few nice features in this and you can tell the team did a lot of hard work and effort into the project. The Gyro-Helios, the pieced out hobble built vehicles that you’d see in great epic classics B Movies like “Hardware” and “The Omega Man” and even “Damnation Alley”. I like the desert scenery the level designer did with the highway overpasses and crossways. I am hoping to see a trailer showing off battle sequences in the urban part of the cities and how they were structured. Where sniper nests might be, how to get to them, and the like.

Reveiw: UDK Programming with UnrealScript a Beginners Guide to Unreal Enlightenment.

First off, let me say what a great privilege this is to have been able to do a read through and apply the lessons that are in the chapters and the explanations and how they work.  I thought at 1st this was going to be a tedious tasking, being someone who dislikes having to use mathematics in programming. Being someone with a slight learning curve, Ms. Cordone AKA AngleMapper to the unreal community brings programming with UDK fun for the new user.

I was asked to review a particular chapter of the book, and sadly I cannot. Why? Because the whole book itself is a great read and learning tool to those that are starting out and have questions on how the inner working of UDK work and are applied within each other. The hands on examples are great as you can apply them to your own alpha as you’re building your game and its environment. About ¼ the way thru the book I got to the awesome actor section and was always curious on how the actor/model stood on the floor without going halfway through it which was always something I beat my head against.

But after reading through that particular section I was able to understand and wrap my head around it. I finally knew the values and how the rotation worked without the headache I would end up giving myself in the end in frustration. All in all for Ms. Cordone’s Guide to UDK I for one am giving this book a 9.5 out of 10 for aiming towards the little guy and addressing issues some of us out here with learning curve issues and helping us grasp and understand the concepts and learning from them at that angle. I thank Rachel and Shaveer for this great opportunity it is a pleasure finally to grasp things that seemed more complicated than they actually are. You can order this informative and enjoyable guide to programming in unreal at Packit Publishing again I wish to thank Rachel and Shaveer for this oppertunity. It has been enlightening to say the least.

Game/Journal Update

Ok so, long time no post? I’ve been busy with the family and work and team and school and visiting relatives from out of state. On with the updates, I made a bad mistake with the Yellow Jacket. I didn’t notice but the Yoke and gear box position needed to be retooled and now Chris is backlogged on having to make the corrections. Bruce will more or less need to redo the UV as well afterwards, crud. However, Paul has got nene pretty much finished, and we just need to send Leon and her to Michael for rigging. Bruce and I were discussing an old idea I had for the community anime fans out there and he likes it and has started off work on it already. No spoilers, but will say it will be a welcome set for those that do use the anime characters in dm and team death match. We also made the move from Moddb.com to IndieDB.com and had the project imported over there as well, thanks IndieDB and staff, you guys rock! Tomorrow is preview night for comicon 40. It’s the 40th one, Milestone 4 and I again do not get to go! FU**!!! FU** FU**!!! Especially with Tron being the theme this year and maybe even a hand on testing of tron evolution as well being at hand to test play! ARGH!

*Calm down calm down bro…..* I have been assured by a friend that swag is to be saved and even sent to me since I can’t be there personally to bask and enjoy the radiance that is comicon but the fact that it’s the 40th comicon. I wanted to be there at the 30th but my oldest was still only 6 years old not old enough to go with dad to the convention now at 16 she’s old enough, but we just lack the funds and the vacation time to do so. 50th mile stone however (if I live that long.) will be ours! And I will be able ad that to the small list of feats I have been able to do in my life. Hardware wise the old 15 in. LCD has about given up the ghost image; I was able to find two replacements for the family pc a nice 17 in. Gateway LCD free from a friend I knew on craigslist and said she’s pull it from the site and have me come get it. The other LCD monitor is my 22 in. Samsung SyncMaster 213T with rotational screen. It really handles games and editors much better as well. I’m attempting to code one the weapons we’re planning to use in the game and it’s an uphill battle but all battles are uphill. I am also having to change my eating habits again, somehow I slipped and gained 15 lbs back, how not sure but I have try to figure out what it is that is making me gain it. This will be another obstacle to deal and lock horns with I guess? Oh Harry Potter world is next year on our agenda as well so that should be really cool too! We’re in the middle of planning it out arranging the timeframe and such OMG have to run, have to get the oldest from summer school! BBL

UDK Reinstall, Tempus gets a new Padawan, Esc online.

All right, with the new rig in place and Win 7 reinstalled? Time ot get UDK Feb reinstalled. Got that taken care as well. Got on yahoo this morning and I saw a name I knew from UDK on my webchat for yahoo. It was one the guys that wanted to join the team a few monthes back.

Well after talking with him and findoing out what his skillset was at? I thought it best to set him with Paulo. Paulo needed some extra hands on texturing and helping with modeling the buildings since we have to do it all by hand now it seems. The two seem to be hitting it off ok as well too. I’m slightly worried with regards to the vehicles however. I haven’t heard from chris in over a week since I sent him the backups to help him start work again after his own machine took a nose dive as well. I am hopeful to see some work from him as well soon. Paul is working on the Pilot Model for the Firebee, Hornet, Wasp vehicle set. Turning out pretty well too.

Next is Esc on moddb, I decided to check on that and see how it was coming along? found out some asshat decided he was going to be funny and try to troll the mod, because there weren’t any screenshots on that page. SO I took the liberty to upload some. Then I reported the little troll’s image to the staff for removal. I’m waiting to hear back from one the moddb staff on taking over the project with Spanky’s and DJPaul’s permission of course. UNLESS of course they decide to take my idea to heart and launch a UDK edition of Esc? Which personaly I’d pay 15$ for it on steam.

My Friday and how I want to sleep

Greetings on this fine evening of evening, it’s my Friday and I let MechZilla go to head home at his respectful time. But here I am at the last legs of my work night typing to get this in by the end of the day. Well to give a brief update. Our Resident character modeler Paul has Leon McNichols of The MegaTokyo 2041 Project created and textured. Now we have the fun part! Rigging this character and getting him animated and getting the 1st person arms ready as well.

We also just had word this morning that we’ve been given permission to go forward with planning our next project as well. Photon the Laser Tag FPS. Not a lot will be said here but we have also been allowed to use assets from the original photon promotional CD from the mid 90’s The Moddb submission has already been accepted and authorized as well. The planning stages are already being discussed and music as well as our Armory as well as a few surprises too.

Tis not a Good day to die as of yet…….

Ok, so I’ve been away for a week or so. Deal, I’ve been doing some music research thing for my oldest for her science fair project on the behavioral patterns based on music the subject listens to. Finaly got that taken care of last night. Girl scout cookies are selling now and I have to try to help my little ones out by seeing if anyone at work would want to order and seems like a good time is being had by all on this one. Good for me!

Project is starting to go well, Paulo has been able to recover 3 of the 5 weapons that were missing. Bad news is they’re just the models and textures, they were not the fully coded versions. I did search however. This however does save us time on having to build from scratch and saves us a little bit of time. niteFlarer is doing an excellent job on rebuilding the lost player models we had from the original project. He’s started on leon’s shoes and trousers, minus the belf which I think will be with the bottom part of the torso. Whoch should look good when the model turns the belt wil move with the torso. So good body movement on that.

We were also debating on whether or not to use cityengine to help port over the Megatokyo BSP map or just to build from the BSP and add in the statics as we go along and build from the inside of the buildings from top to bottom and place in floorplans as needes. Waiting on Joseph now on the firebee progress but we haven’t heard from him in like almost a month. During a search on Voomer designs and such ran across some of the OLD ova Genom designs BU-33 and BU-11 designs and a few vehicle designs that might actually prove to be fun if we can get them built/animated/rigged and then in game for flight testing.

UDK Update

Trying to learn how to do a smal normal map for testing purposes for 1 vehicle and 2 player models and 2 weapons with two ammo placments and two spawn points. EPIC FAIL! >_<; oh and GOD FORBID anyone lend a fu**ing hand! Frustration is so much fun. …….NOT!

But it has to be done, If we are to realize our vision of a gaming studio? We need to buckle down and do the math, no matter how hard it can be. MUST try to strive to learn how to get the code to work properly. Distributing the existing assests among the team and some of the NEW concept designs I've been playing with and some of the vehicles I've had in mind.

So far everyone is on board and may even have some new members as well. My hope is a fellow forum member named Phoenixwing from BuF comes onboard as well. His skills as a coder are remarkable, and he'd be a true assest to the team. That and I could learn a few things from him as well.

Off topic I walked out this morning after work at midnight and drove home at that same intersection I kid you not was a buck with a 3.5 Antler spread on the corner. I went across slowly enough so not to spook him but quick enough I could hit the gas to avoid him too. but as soon as I crossed thru he just strolled across the street as the walk like came on. One of those odd moments again.
